How long have you been cosplaying?
What got you into Cosplay?
My very closest friends in high school were into conventions and started talking about it. As someone who used to love playing dressup most of all as a child, I was all-in.
Favourite Costume? Was it bought or made?
My favorite costume is Sylvanas Windrunner. She is also my newest, most uncomfortable, and coolest. I built the armor and props over a period of 3 months.
What are your goals as a cosplayer?
I am sure I join a lot of other people when I say I would love to achieve some success in regards to a career, but I really just want to be able to help others with their dreams and to inspire other cosplayers.
Which Cosplayer inspired you to cosplay?
Honesty, no particular cosplayer actually inspired me. It wasn't as much of a big market when I started. I just loved the idea that there were places and events where it was acceptable to dress up and get into character outside of Halloween. The amazing people with me in Cosplay Collective keep me inspired and continue to encourage me in my pursuit of this passion.
After I achieved my dream of cosplaying Sylvanas, Xena, Warrior Princess became my dream cosplay (she is in progress, and one of my best friends is pairing up with me as Gabrielle!!!)
Favourite Skill of Cosplay? (Wig work, sewing, armor, etc)
My favorite things to do are special effects or character makeups. I also really enjoy the challenge of getting into character. These are skills I also carry over into my theatre and haunted house work.
What is something you would change about the Cosplay Community if you could?
I hate the toxicity in the community. It became too over-commercialized too quickly, and became less about the fandom or the crafting, and more about the "who you know", how many MORE followers/customers/fans you have than another cosplayer, or how perfect you look. People compare and inexplicably hate one another because they both cosplay the same character, when it should be an immediate friendship connection because they both loved that character enough to dress as them. In general, we need to be more supportive of one another! we are all nerds and geeks over something here!
