Furry Migration 2026 Con Review
I know I said I would write a review for Tails and Tornadoes, but I may just leave that to my partner if he so chooses to, as I was running the Snacc Pack photoshoots with my best friend, and was unable to attend myself. I do want to do a little shout out to say thank you to everyone who helped make sure my partner was supported and that he made some sales! I got to cross off Mandibuzz and Mega Chandulure thanks to both him and attendees!
This Furry Migration was held in a different part of Minneapolis this past weekend (September 11th to the 13th) at the Minneapolis Hyatt Regency Downtown, where Anime Detour is also held! This helped me greatly as I already knew where to go to set up, but would also always appreciate a map for any newcomers in case they aren't aware. I also got put in a weird spot, not due to anything the con itself did, but the lighting was very odd and so my booth looked very dark and we had to run and buy lighting so people could actually see my wares. When checking in, they required both of the folks who were at your table to be present to get both badges, which I appreciate and also am kind of annoyed, only because I am used to getting both badges at once, so my partner can bring in the stuff and I do the check-in/legal stuff. They didn't allow for digital submission of the ST-19, which I also thought was strange, only because there's a physical document with all my information out there with their other vendors' information. Set up was relatively quick, but when you've done this as often as I have, it gets down to a rhythm. We packed up roughly an hour after we started our set up and went to get some dinner.
We again stayed at an Airbnb, as this was my first time at this particular convention and I didn't want to make my expenses too hard to cover. This one was about a mile and a half from the convention center, and about 2 blocks from a hospital, so if anything bad did happen, we wouldn't be SOL. The place we stayed was super cute, and although we had to go up two flights of stairs, we had the whole third floor to ourselves, with a little kitchenette and even its own television and dvd selection. I mostly read, and ended up finishing my Warrior Cats book before we even got to sleep the first night. I was so enamored, that I finished the book and immediately picked up my next book. I am thankful I had three, because at the end of the journey, I had read all of them.
I brought a few crochet projects with me as well, including the Simi Pokemon, and Zephyr from League of Legends (specifically the Star Guardian variant) so if it was slow, I'd be able to work through it. I got Simipour done on Saturday, and very quickly got almost all the pieces done for Simisage. I had to pause when one of the attendees wanted a quick commission of an Oran berry, and another commissioned me for a marshmallow to go with their sona! Everyone was so kind, there was no questioning of my prices or scoffing, and it was just a wonderful weekend of sweet people wanting to give out stickers of their sonas, bracelets they made, and ribbons they had to hand out.
While I myself am not a furry, I really appreciate the acceptance and belonging that this community has to offer. Pokemon and Warrior Cats are rampant here, and so many people thought my Scalemates were so funny. I did sell all of my canon trolls that I had brought with me, which was such a wonderful feeling. I had a few people ask about customs, and I do hope they'll come back! We sold several of the amigurumi that I've made, which blew my mind that folks were literally throwing their cards at me to purchase my more intricate work. I love that Blaziken went home, as well as my Owlbear! And Clawitzer kigu also found his forever home, which means I have to scramble tomorrow and Thursday to get some more work done before SEMOCon.
I also had several folks who had heard of me or my quest, and we were able to cross off four new Pokemon! We had Zweilous, Sandaconda, Archen, and a "surprise" kigu between Genesect, Escavalier, and Accelgor, which I won't reveal in case the person who ordered sees this post! I really want to make more chibi commissions of people's OCs, so definitely hit me up if you'd like to have your lil guy chibi-fied! I loved seeing everyone's suits and really hope the folks that I talked to come back because WOW, everyone is so creative and I want the opportunity to make cozy versions for these folks.
I was so blessed to find plenty of Warrior Cats merch and give out my Warrior Cat ribbon to all the people in the know. I found some Crookedstar and Spottedleaf items and even got to purchase a matching sticker set of "#1 Pigeon Liker" for my friend, Jean-Luc and I. I really should have purchased the pin banner the artist I got a few items from as well, because now I want to have a pin banner for all of my favorite characters. I really hope I get into Furry Migration again next year, because it was so fun and I really wish I had done more outside of the Dealer's Den. I will design my own fursona so that I can make a kigu of it and stomp around as a lil guy.
I hope the wonderful energy carries into SEMOCon and I can have a really amazing month and finally get ahead of all the dumb stuff I've had to deal with this year.
