KansasCityPhoto

I love when portrait photographers ask if they can interview with me because they aren't a cosplay photographer yet. I've gotta say, just because you aren't one yet, doesn't mean you can't start. KansasCityPhoto has a sprinkling of cosplayers in their portfolio, and they are amazing. If you get the chance, definitely book them. Maybe when I'm around that area, I'll book them for a Sailor Uranus shoot.

What got you into photography? I’ve always had a passion for it. It started when I was 13 and we got our first “digital” camera. It took floppy disks and each held like 12 photos. 🤣

What's your favorite part of photographing Cosplayers? The creativity! It’s so fun to create a new “world,” and step outside of the norm for photography. I love seeing what cosplayers create, and love making their photography vision come true.

Words of advice for budding photographers? Keep going. Don’t give up. Don’t try to be the cheapest, try to be the best. Find a photography mentor and follow them. Learn photoshop and learn your camera.

Favorite Genre/Fandom you enjoy photographing? SAILOR MOON IS MY FOREVER.

Favorite convention to Shoot at/attend, and why? I’ve always been partial to Naka. However, Anime St. Louis has a gorgeous fountain outside of its location that I’m also in love with!
