La Rire Cosplay

I love seeing when people are passionate about cosplay. You can tell that they are just happy wearing an outfit and being nerds, and La Rire is no exception. I absolutely adore their Rena Rouge, and then I saw their Soifon wig and I'm like, "OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOD YES." Because I am a Bleach nerd and I love seeing other Bleach Nerds. I can't wait to get started on Rukia and Ichigo next month. If you have the chance, definitely check out La Rire below!

How can we find your social media(s)? Facebook and Insta (no space for Insta): LaRire Cosplay

How long have you been cosplaying? 7 years

What got you into Cosplay? One year I found a convention that was just over an hour away from where I lived. I dragged my soon-to-be sister-in-law with me as a relief from wedding stress for both of us. We saw all these people at the con having a blast in cosplay, and thought that it would be amazing to have a piece of that pie, too. So the next year, we pieced together some things and the rest is history!

Favourite Costume? Was it bought or made? Soifon from Bleach. I made the entire thing, even with it being my first cosplay and sewing project ever. I made all her weapons and even detachable sleeves. She is retired now, but I still love her to death.

What are your goals as a cosplayer? I have several, including but not limited to: sharing my joy of fandoms in the cosplays I wear, and showing others how easy of a hobby it is to get into. To make a costume that can easily hold its own in competition and on the con floor. To share my enthusiasm for competition and to reel others into how amazing and terrifying it is to stand on stage, and then the pride and relief it is when you step off it again. And, above all, to help this amazing community by spreading knowledge and help as far as I can.

Which Cosplayer inspired you to cosplay? No one inspired me to start, but 2 creators have been amazing inspirations to keep at it: Kamui Cosplay and Seirei Creations. They have given me the bravery to try new techniques and even new kinds of costumes in order to better myself and my craft.

Dream Cosplay? Caterina Sforza, Trinity Blood (artbook version.) I actually already have this one almost finished after 3 years of work!

Favourite Skill of Cosplay? (Wig work, sewing, armor, etc) I really like detail work such as jewelry making and embroidery. I'm actually pretty well known in my area for the sheer amount of time I put in to hand embroidering my works. Besides that I really like corset making and Frankensteining patterns together to make something that is a 2D piece of art come alive as a 3D garment or piece of armor.
