Organizing Essentials -Wig Storage

As a cosplayer, we are mostly known for being disorganized. As a cosplayer of 10+ years, I can definitely confirm that, and hope that this article can help change this for myself as well as for you. I've done a lot of research on organizing, and I feel really confident in my knowledge of the subject. I may edit this article periodically so that if something new pops up, I may be able to keep it updated as well.

WIG STORAGE

First, we'll start with the head of the cosplayer. You probably have at least one wig, but if you are like me, you have somewhere closer to 20, or even more! Wig heads are absolutely essential for styled wigs. It hurts me in my soul when I see people fork out for some really expensive, styled wigs, and then just throw them to the floor. (I am one of those people, but I also have the means to restyle my wigs when I see fit) There are also plastic wig stands, that aren't that great, but work for con travel. Wig heads cost roughly 3-5 dollars, depending on where you get them, and sometimes you can even get bulk discounts.

Some stores you can buy wig heads from: Sally's Beauty, Walmart, JoAnn's, Hobby Lobby, and Amazon.

There are also many ways to store those pesky wig heads. You can put them in plastic storage containers by putting the wig heads in the bottom and attaching them with velcro or by gluing it to the bottom. This is helpful if you don't have a lot of room, but have a styled wig or two. It's also helpful for traveling. Sometimes you can store your wig heads by attaching dowel rods to a 2x4. You could remove and replace the wig head as you see fit. When you don't have a styled wig, keeping it in the bag you got it in, is fine. I wouldn't suggest otherwise because the wig has a smaller chance to get messed up between wearings. I would also suggest that you brush out the wig before and after wearing it.
